UNIT DATES: September 3 - 27, 2019
STUDENT PREPARATION:
Prior to lecture, students should have read through the Khan Academy Ancient Mediterranean unit. Students should also independently investigate reputable sources on this material, such as:

Any museum or associated websites with objects found in this unit or any school or civic library resources available.
UNIT ASSESSMENTS:
Daily Grade #1, 2, 3, 4 - Weekly grade for daily classroom/discussion/activity participation.
Daily Grade #5 - Each student is responsible for one (1) unique entry per unit image into the Google Classroom Study Guide for the
current unit. Each entry should be informative to the group, add new information for study, have the student's name
for credit and either a link to a reliable internet source or an MLA citation of the source for the information. Any entry
that does not meet all expectations will not be counted in the grade. Entries are due by midnight on September 26.
Daily Grade #6, 7 - Participation in Drill and Kill during the weeks of September 6 and September 20. NOTE: Drill and Kill does not have to be the current unit's images.
Major Grade#1 - Research Paper
Preparation: Research architectural pieces within the Ancient Mediterranean unit. Consider pieces in chronological order and the advances in building technologies represented in each.
Theme: Choose two or more architectural pieces within the Ancient Mediterranean unit (Egyptian, Etruscan, Greek or Roman). Compare and contrast: These should be two works from the same culture in chronological order which will allow you to discuss the progress of that particular culture. Consider the tools, materials and techniques required for each work and include the impacts of the culture on the designs and buildings in your thesis. Consider also any communications or commerce between cultures that may have influenced the architecture and/or the engineering technologies required to build it..
Components: 1 paragraph prospectus
5 pages body – 12 pt. type, double-spaced, normal margins
MLA formatted Bibliography

Major Grade #2 - Final Unit Exam week of September 27 over all material to date
Exam components: Multiple Choice and Short Essay Questions
Point Recovery is available for this test. THE RULES: Only attempted answers qualify for Point Recovery. Unanswered questions are not available for Point Recovery. On separate paper and numbered for the incorrect test questions, justify the correct answer or re-write the essay according to the correction notes on the test and include a proper MLA-formatted citation for the source. The teacher cannot be the source for the justification. Staple your justifications to the original test and turn by Wednesday of the following week for credit. Late papers will not be considered for Point Recovery.
